PETALING JAYA: Police will close five more roads in the district to enforce the movement control order (MCO) here.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal (pic) said the five closures to be made were routes heading into Mutiara Damansara, Damansara Perdana and Flora Damansara.
"Effective 12am on April 10, we will be closing the Penchala Link exit to Mutiara Damansara and Damansara Perdana.
"We will also close the Damansara Puchong Expressway (LDP) exit to Mutiara Damansara and Damansara Perdana," he said in a statement on Wednesday (April 8).
He said the LDP exit to Jalan PJU8/8 Flora Damansara, Jalan PJU7/8 exit to Ikea and the Jalan PJU 8/1 traffic light (Damansara Perdana/Penchala Link/Kepong interchange) would also be closed.
ACP Nik Ezanee said motorists could use alternative routes out of Mutiara Damansara, Damansara Perdana and Flora Damansara via Damansara Perdana towards Penchala Link through Jalan PJU7/9 (BHP petrol station) and from Damansara Perdana to Persiaran Surian via Jalan PJU 7/1 Mutiara Damansara.
"We will also be setting up another MCO roadblock aside from the ones along the Sprint Highway and Persiaran Surian.
"The latest roadblock will be set up along Jalan PJU 7/1 Mutiara Damansara near the Mutiara Damansara MRT station in both directions," he said.
He added that the Petaling Jaya City Council, emergency services, Fire and Rescue Department and police would still be allowed to access the closed routes.
"The road closures will be manned by our personnel to ensure security and smooth-flowing traffic," he said.
Meanwhile, ACP Nik Ezanee said police have arrested 17 people over the span of 24 hours from Tuesday (April 7) for defying the MCO.
"Among those arrested included six men, aged between 34 and 58, for gathering and drinking alcohol at a playground along Jalan SS3/28.
"We also arrested a man for jogging along Jalan BU10/9 Bandar Utama. He could not furnish us with a valid reason to be outside and did not have any form of identification on him," he said.
