Cops, military guard access to seven villages in Hulu Langat following enhanced MCO


KAJANG: The enhanced movement control order is in effect at seven villages in Sungai Lui in Hulu Langat here Monday (March 30).

Police and Armed Forces personnel are seen manning the roadblock at the border of Batu 21 in Sungai Lui, barring anyone from entering or leaving the area.

A check by The Star at the roadblock revealed that the people who came to the area were told to turn back.

Next to the roadblock is a multipurpose hall believed to be used as a food storage facility and police/armed forces ops centre.

Non-security personnel were prohibited from entering the multipurpose hall area.

On Sunday (March 29), Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the enhanced MCO after the Health Ministry found 71 positive Covid-19 cases out of 274 residents from Maahad Tahfiz An-Nabawiyyah in Batu 23, Sungai Lui.

"The enhanced MCO will involve 3,918 residents from 700 houses, comprising two Orang Asli villages and five Malay villages. This order is effective from midnight to April 13, ” Ismail Sabri said in a statement Sunday.
