Cops detain five men in Perak for violating MCO, seize 17 bottles of ketum water

IPOH: Five men were detained by the police for violating the movement control order (MCO) at Kampung Gajah.

Perak Tengah OCPD Supt Barudin Wariso said the police also confiscated 17 bottles of ketum water and a large container of ice.

He added the men were aged from 23 to 50 and were detained at 3.01pm on Monday (March 30).

“Our personnel were doing their rounds and found them gathering and drinking leisurely in a hut, ” he said.

The officers then found a large ice container with bottled ketum water in the hut.

“One of the suspects, aged 50, admitted that the ketum water belonged to him and he was planning to sell it, ” he said, adding that the man has several past criminal records.

Supt Barudin said that the five suspects would be investigated under Section 7(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Rules.
