Apologise for belittling Malaysia's efforts to control Covid-19, MCA tells Taiwanese TV presenter

PETALING JAYA: MCA is sending a protest note to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia against Taiwan television presenter Li Zheng Hao.

MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon (pic) said Li had belittled Malaysia's efforts to control the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Li slamming efforts taken by Malaysia in combating the Covid-19 pandemic warrants criticism and chastisement," he said in a statement on Sunday (March 29).

He described Li's comment as ignorant and prejudiced, adding that MCA wants Li and the Taiwan television station to apologise to all Malaysians.

"Li had made a false statement and had seriously dented Malaysia's image," he said.

Chong said Li's comment that the remains of victims were being handled by the roadside in the middle of the night was baseless, misleading, offensive and insensitive.

"The TV station invited guests to comment on other countries to boost its ratings," he added.
