Kluang's HEBHK becomes Johor's second Covid-19 hospital

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Health Department has turned the Hospital Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom (HEBHK) in Kluang into a Covid-19-designated treatment hospital in the state from Wednesday (March 25).

With this, Johor now has two Covid-19 treatment centres after Permai Hospital here.

State health and environment committee chairman R. Vidyananthan (pic) said the decision was taken due to the increased number of Covid-19 cases in Johor.

"Up till Wednesday (March 25), the state has reported an increase of 34 positive Covid-19 cases, making the cumulative number to 196 cases.

"There is also an increase of two deaths, bringing the total number to five deaths," he said in a media conference shown live via Facebook here on Thursday (March 26).

Vidyananthan, the Kahang assemblyman, added that cases that were not emergencies had been advised to seek treatment at clinics or other nearest hospitals.

"Elective surgeries and daily treatments procedure have been postponed while outpatient department and specialists clinic service have been relocated to the former Kluang nursing administrative building, which is located next to the old Kluang Hospital starting March 29.

"Clinical operations after office hours have also been postponed, while entry to new non Covid-19 patients have been stopped except for emergency maternity cases," he added.

Vidyananthan urged the public to give their full cooperation, adding that visitors were not allowed at HEBHK during the duration.
