PETALING JAYA: Forty-seven of the 73 medical staff from the Health Ministry (MOH) who tested positive for Covid-19 went to wedding ceremonies that were also attended by some who went for the tabligh gathering in Masjid Jamek, Sri Petaling.
Health director-general Datuk Seri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic), however, added that none of them are frontliners battling the disease.
He said in a statement Wednesday (March 25) that the majority of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country are from the tabligh cluster.
Dr Noor Hisham said the others had history of overseas travel and contact with other Covid-19 positive cases.
He added that of the 1,895 MOH Covid-19 frontliners tested for the disease, 1,187 tested negative while another 708 were still waiting for the results.
He said the frontliners are advised to maintain hygiene, and emphasised the importance of washing their hands, maintaining social distancing and to wear personal protective equipment when necessary.
