KUCHING: The Sarawak Legislative Assembly will sit for just one day in its first meeting this year due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
The sitting will be held on April 13 at 9am, the assembly's secretary Pele Peter Tinggom said in a statement Wednesday (March 18).
He said no opening ceremony or state banquet would be held.
"Only the media, administrative staff, assemblymen and heads of departments can attend the sitting.
"The public and visitors will not be allowed to attend to reduce the risk of spreading the disease," he said.
The state assembly normally sits for eight days in its twice-yearly meetings.
Its last meeting was on Nov 4-13 last year.
