Two Perak DAP reps, Amanah assemblyman declare themselves Independent

IPOH: Three assemblymen from Perak Pakatan Harapan have declared themselves as Independents.

Paul Yong Choo Kiong (DAP-Tronoh), Hasnul Zulkarnain Abdul Munaim (Amanah-Titi Serong) and A. Sivasubraniam (DAP-Buntong) announced their departure from the coalition shortly after the announcement made by Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

"We have thought this through a few days ago. And we decided to be Independent for our voters.

"Looking at the formation of Perikatan Nasional, there is no representative from the Chinese or Indian community. That is why we decide to become Independent," said Yong at a press conference held at his office at the State Secretarial Building Monday (March 9).

Yong said the decision was made to protect their voters as well as Perakians in general.

"There is no issue of who is jumping or not. The situation in Perak is slightly different.

"We are giving our full support towards Ahmad Faizal," he said.
