PETALING JAYA: It is time for PAS to walk the talk after being given the responsibility to serve in the Cabinet, says Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan.
The PAS secretary-general said they would focus on discharging their responsibilities and stop wasting time on petty squabbles.
"We must focus our attention on delivering in the best interests of the rakyat and the nation.
"It is time to work and walk the talk," he said in response to the new Cabinet line-up announced on Monday (March 9).
Takiyuddin, a lawyer by profession, was appointed as a Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, holding the Parliament and Law portfolios.
Fellow PAS leaders appointed to the Cabinet include deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (Environment Minister) and Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali (Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister).
Other PAS elected representatives appointed include Ahmad Marzuk Shaary (Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of religious affairs), Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (Deputy Women and Family Minister), Datuk Che Abdullah Mat Nawi (Deputy Agriculture and Food Industries Minister II), and Datuk Rosol Wahid (Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister).
Takiyuddin said they would engage relevant stakeholders before making decisions.
"It is important to listen to the views of stakeholders. The IPCMC (Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission) Bill was put on hold before this. We will look into improving it after listening to the views of the stakeholders.
"The automatic voter registration proposal was also put on hold. We will review all these," he said.
