TECHNOLOGY has been a prime driver that helps push humanity towards greater progress.
In a short span of time, we have experienced a rush in breakthroughs that have permeated the consumer market, thanks largely to the rise of a connected world through the Internet.
Today, we benefit from new technologies that we – as far back as 20, or even as recent as 10 years ago – could only imagine existed in science-fiction movies.
One of the advancements that has become commonplace nowadays is Foodpanda’s delivery services zipping on motorcycles across towns, bringing meals from curated local restaurants to customers to enjoy their favourite meals at home.
This service is available in 13 states and in 53 locations across Malaysia and can be accessed conveniently through a smartphone app or the humble web browser.
Delivering comfort, ease
Foodpanda’s concept is simple enough – download the app or visit the website, then sign up or log on.
Confirm the delivery point you want the food sent to and then you have a choice of food you want delivered or to pick-up.
Foodpanda offers more than 20,000 partner restaurants, adding variety and flavour to your selection.
At the checkout page, you can choose either to pay by linking your account to a credit or debit card where the sum is automatically charged.
Foodpanda accepts cash on delivery as well.
Your food will arrive in under 30 minutes, kept warm in those pink recognisable Foodpanda insulated bags and delivered right to your doorstep.
This service is highly convenient for customers who live in congested cities, where driving out to the stores may leave them stuck in a traffic jam for close to an hour.
Those living in smaller towns, however, might find it convenient when they wish to savour dishes from their favourite restaurant in the comfort of their own home.
The service also comes in very handy for customers who are busy running errands.
Or for those who are still at work after office hours, rushing for deadlines and don’t have the time to drive out for a proper meal.
It is definitely comforting to know that their favourite meal is just a click of mouse button or a tap on the smartphone away.
And if they are at home, Foodpanda also helps save time, especially if they are busy with household chores and do not have time to go out to pack food for the family.
Time-saving collection
Another service that may prove to be popular is Foodpanda’s pick-up service.
This allows customers the option of collecting their food directly from the outlets they ordered from.
It is extremely useful to them if they happen to be on the move running errands or are within the vicinity of the food outlet.
They might possibly be heading home from work and their family craves tandoori chicken.
It saves precious time if they were to order a set family meal as a pick-up, then drop by the outlet on the way home to collect.
This also provides customers an easier solution if they prefer to go out to get their meal, but don’t have the time to navigate endless queues.
To use this option, simply launch the Foodpanda app, select the pick-up function and place the order.
Once the meal is packed and ready, the restaurant will send a notification via the app and customers can swing by and collect the order at their own time.
As restaurants become better at managing their orders efficiently, more orders can be served throughout the day.
The pick-up option is only available at selected restaurants and does not levy delivery fees or enforce the minimum order value requirement on customers who order via the Foodpanda app.
Expanding influence
Foodpanda also has a function called the Pandamart where customers can order convenience products, groceries, beauty and baby care products to be delivered to their doorstep.
Current retailers include S&J Co Gift Shop, Shell Select, Matahari and Vapempire, but will continue expanding the range of its lifestyle and convenience offerings in the future.
Foodpanda has been around since 2012 and is today, the largest food delivery service provider.
It successfully amassed about 100,000 partner restaurants in more than 325 cities across 13 Asian and Central European countries.
Foodpanda is owned by Berlin–based Delivery Hero, an international leader in the food delivery industry.
