KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan is still the government of the day and its ministers will continue to perform their duties, says Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad (pic).
"We are still the government. Whatever it is, we should wait for the decision by the King. We will wait," said the Health Minister.
He said this when speaking to reporters after the launch of the National Fatigue Management Awareness Campaign and Seminar for Healthcare Providers on Monday (Feb 24).
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and her husband, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim are scheduled to have an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at 2pm.
On Amanah's stand on the matter, Dr Dzulkefly said that the Pakatan Harapan presidential council had made their decision on the transition of power at a meeting on Friday (Feb 22).
It was decided that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir would be given full discretion when to step down as prime minister, which will be after the Apec Summit in November.
"We fully support the decision," said Dr Dzulkefly, who is from Amanah.
When asked about a remark he made during the launch in which he said that this might be his last event as a minister, Dr Dzulkefly said that he made it in jest.
"The important thing is that we hold to the decision made together during the Presidential Council meeting," he said.
Also present was Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Mahfuz Omar, who later he said similarly that Amanah respected the Presidential Council decision and supported the leadership of Dr Mahathir.
"The people want stability, they don't want the return of a government that was rejected once upon a time, a party that was said to kleptocrats that is Umno and Barisan Nasional," he said, adding that even Dr Mahathir had demonized Umno previously.
"I never thought that this would happen," he said.
