Anwar: All Pakatan component parties fully support Dr M's leadership

PORT DICKSON: All Pakatan Harapan component parties are committed to and fully support Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's leadership, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic).

The PKR president said talk of some parties in the Opposition trying to get their MPs to show support for the premier was meaningless.

"It was just Wednesday (Feb 12) when Wan Azizah (Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail) asked what all this fuss was about supporting Tun Dr Mahathir.

"There is no change to our (Pakatan's) commitment that we will continue to support Dr Mahathir as the seventh PM.

"Our commitment stands," he said when met after launching the Guru Penyayang programme at SK Kampong Gelam here on Thursday (Feb 13).

The Port Dickson MP said he had also heard talk of some parties behind the move to get MPs from the Opposition to sign a statutory declaration in support of Dr Mahathir as Prime Minister.

"I think there may be one or two from my party implicated in this as well.

"I must caution that we should focus on the economy instead," he said.

"We should just allow the government to focus on the economy and not be distracted by other issues like politics which are quite disconcerting," he said.

Anwar said no government should kowtow to the demands of the Opposition.
