Malaysian embassy officials arrive in Wuhan

Ghost town: Wuhan is currently on lockdown amid the coronavirus outbreak which began in the city.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian embassy officials have arrived in Wuhan to help repatriate 120 Malaysians back, Malaysiakini reported.

The online news portal said that the team of six Malaysian officials had arrived at 3.30am after travelling for almost 13 hours.

Meanwhile, Astro Awani reported that the Malaysian ambassador to Beijing Raja Datuk Nushirwan Zainal Abidin noted that currently, he was not able to provide any updates as it was still morning, adding that he too had not been able to survey the situation of the Malaysians in the area.

It was earlier reported that the Malaysian embassy team had left to Wuhan as part of its efforts to evacuate Malaysians who were stranded in the epicentre of the novel coronavirus outbreak.
