PKR issues show-cause letter to Zuraida

PETALING JAYA: PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin now has less than 14 days to respond to a show-cause letter sent to her by the party over disciplinary issues.

PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the party issued the show-cause letter to Zuraida, who is also the Housing and Local Government Minister, on Friday (Jan 17).

"Starting Friday (Jan 17), she has 14 days to give her explanation and after that, the disciplinary board will carry out any further actions, whether it will lead to a hearing or (her) dismissal. That is the responsibility of the disciplinary board," said Saifuddin.

Speaking at a press conference after the PKR’s central leadership council (MPP) meeting at party headquarters here on Saturday (Jan 18), Saifuddin did not clarify what disciplinary offences Zuraida had committed.

Zuraida’s move in delivering a fiery speech critical of PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Shared Prosperity Vision (SPV) 2030 dinner on Dec 8 last year had courted anger from Anwar’s supporters.

They called for action to be taken against her, including sacking her.

The SPV 2030 dinner was attended by Anwar’s deputy and rival Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, as well as leaders and members aligned to him.

At the dinner, Zuraida also allegedly attacked other party leaders and disclosed details of a private conversation she said she had with Anwar.
