BUTTERWORTH: A former headmaster at SK Wellesley was slapped with eight counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving cash amounting to RM35,500.
Chan Thye Choon, 61, was accused of misappropriating the money between November 2015 and March 2017.
The accused is alleged to have committed CBT involving the rental payment of the school field by knowingly abusing property entrusted to him.
The offence was charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years' jail, whipping and fine if found guilty.
He also faces alternative charges for the same offences under Section 403 of the Penal Code, which provides a jail term of up to a maximum of five years, whipping and fine if found guilty.
Judge Ahmad Azhari Abdul Hamid granted bail of RM2,500 to the accused for each charge with one surety.
