PETALING JAYA: The issue over the government's decision to cut the Critical Service Incentive Allowance for new intakes starting from Jan 1 next year will be brought back to the Cabinet for a discussion, says Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad (pic).
“I have requested the Deputy Minister, Ministry secretary-general and directors-general to meet with the Public Service Department (PSD) as soon as possible to discuss about the circular.
“I will monitor the development of this matter.
“The needs of each ministry is different and it is necessary to bring this issue up to the Cabinet again, ” the Health Minister said in a Twitter post on Thursday (Dec 26).
In a circular dated Dec 20, the PSD announced that the government will no longer give new intakes the Critical Service Incentive Allowance to 33 professions from next year.
Among those affected are medical officers, pharmacists, dentists, nurses, engineers, air traffic controllers, architects, marine architects, legal officers, agricultural officers, vocational training officers, marine officers and research officers.
Those receiving the allowance at present will continue to get it, including contract workers whose contracts are renewed.
Only new appointments starting from Jan 1 next year will be affected.
