KUALA LUMPUR: An Umno delegate wants party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to be firm in his decisions and actions.
Datuk Omar Faudzar of Penang said that he need not be afraid to act for the benefit of the party because the members are with him.
“You see how many delegates stood up just now. We want a firm decision from you. We don’t want termites eating the party from inside because they will cause the party to fall from inside, ” he said in his debate on the president’s policy speech.
Zahid when addressing the delegates at the opening of the Umno general assembly said that Muafakat Nasional is the new medium for Umno to make a return to Putrajaya but the party will not change the government via the back door.
Omar had earlier bashed some of the party’s lawmakers who met with a Pakatan Harapan minister over what they claimed was in relation to funds for the development of their constituencies.
When he questioned the lawmakers’ dignity for “crawling to the government”, the delegates responded by standing and cheering.
