Umno general assembly takes off as wings meet

KUALA LUMPUR: A packed day awaits delegates attending the assemblies of Umno's three wings on Thursday (Dec 5).

The respective assemblies are taking place in conjunction with the 2019 Umno General Assembly, which kicks off at 9am.

The assemblies will start off with speeches by their respective heads – Umno youth chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, Wanita chief Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad and Puteri chief Datuk Zarida Zarik Khan.

The meetings of the three wings were opened simultaneously by Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan on Wednesday (Dec 4) night.

In his speech, Mohamad said he wanted Umno to undergo a "radical alignment" in its approach to regain the people's support.

He also said a change in the party's agenda was necessary to make it more inclusive.

Umno youth has 973 delegates while Wanita and Puteri has 976 and 960 delegates respectively.

The two-day main party general assembly starts Friday (Dec 6).
