KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has thanked all parties, who affirmed their support for him to succeed Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the next prime minister.
"Thank you, thank you. Thank you to the people, Pakatan Harapan and Tun M," the Port Dickson MP told reporters at the Parliament lobby on Wednesday (Nov 6).
Anwar said he had repeatedly addressed the matter, which had been decided before the 14th General Election.
When asked to comment on attempts by certain parties to stop him from becoming the next premier, the PKR president said: "We cannot prevent this".
"I have no problem. We just focus on our work," he said, adding that he was not perturbed.
Anwar also said that other Pakatan leaders or parties have not nominated any other candidate for the position.
In an interview with Sydney Morning Herald published on Monday, Dr Mahathir said that he would make way for Anwar as agreed.
