KUALA LUMPUR: The DAP top leadership has been told to state its stand over Ronnie Liu's remarks, which were critical of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Marzuki Yahya said that Liu should be aware of his position as a leader within one of Pakatan's component parties.

"I believe that that is more of his (Liu) personal stance but the DAP leadership must issue a statement regarding the party's position on this matter," he told reporters at the parliament lobby on Wednesday (Oct 23).

He was responding to Liu's remarks that Pakatan could still form a government without Bersatu.

Liu, who is a DAP central executive committee member and also Sungai Pelek assemblyman, had cautioned Dr Mahathir against Bersatu making decisions which were not in line with Pakatan Harapan values.

Marzuki also described Liu's statement as "not smart" and urged DAP's top leadership to handle the matter immediately.
