Man killed, son rushed to hospital after lightning strike

ALOR SETAR: A security guard was killed while his son sustained serious injuries after they were struck by lightning at a village near here.

The incident occurred at about 2.30pm on Friday (Oct 18) at Kampung Hujong Alor.

The deceased was identified as Norhafizan Mohd Soleh, 39.

He was found dead by villagers.

His seven-year-old son Mohd Haziq Norhafizan, who was riding pillion with him on a motorcycle, sustained burn injuries.

He was rushed to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for treatment.

The man's sister-in-law, Umi Kalsom Sulaiman, 35, when met at the scene, said the father and son were on their way home after Friday prayers when the incident occurred.

“When I reached the scene, I found Norhafizan with burned marks on his body

“His clothes were burnt and torn apart, and pieces of his clothes were found scattered nearby,” she said.

Police personnel from the Kota Setar district police headquarters were at the scene to carry out investigations.
