Stop trying to find a 'backdoor' into Cabinet, Loke tells Opposition MPs

KUALA LUMPUR: The Opposition should stop trying to find a "backdoor" to be part of the Government, says Anthony Loke.

Loke, who is also the Transport Minister, said the Opposition had lost the mandate from the rakyat in GE14.

"The people voted for Pakatan Harapan, they (the Opposition) were rejected so don't use the backdoor to become a Cabinet minister," he said when asked to comment on a statement by former Umno vice president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

The Sembrong MP is said to be among those allegedly 'campaigning' to get DAP and Amanah booted out from the Pakatan coalition.

In a statement on Tuesday (Oct 15), Pakatan affirmed that the coalition would still include DAP and Amanah, and urged Opposition politicians to stop their alleged campaign to oust these two parties.

Loke said the statement by the Pakatan secretariat was "loud and clear".

"We have been given the mandate to govern the country, so respect it. Don't try to cause chaos in the Government," said Loke.

Earlier on Wednesday, Hishammuddin said he was baffled at personal attacks against him, and claimed this indicated that "all is not well within Pakatan".
