MELAKA: Police have solved the gruesome murder of a mother and her son whose body parts were found in Krubong here with the arrest of her Singaporean husband.

Melaka police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mat Kassim Karim said the suspect was arrested yesterday with the cooperation of Singaporean authorities.

He said the man was being brought back to Melaka to assist in the investigations.

The victims were a 27-year-old woman and her 11-year-old son.

Both were from Taman Merdeka here and police believed they had been murdered between four and five days before their body parts were discovered.

Police also believed the suspect had dismembered the two bodies with a machete and later discarded them at two separate locations.

On Thursday, a grass cutter going about his work beside the main road of Kampung Ladang near the Krubong industrial area stumbled upon human body parts.

DCP Mat Kassim said the police were continuing the search for other body parts in the area.
