IPOH: A 36-year-old fisherman has been charged with 22 counts of raping, molesting and having unnatural sex with his stepdaughter at their house since April 2016.
He is alleged to have committed the offences at a house in Kampung Tersusun Baru, Lekir in Sitiawan between April 2016 and Sept 29 this year.
The girl was only 12 when the first incident happened.
He was charged at a Sessions Court here before Judge Norashima Khalid.
From the 22 charges, however, he only pled guilty to six charges involving sexual assault, including an incident where he took a video of her with his mobile phone.
He pled not guilty to another 16 charges, including rape and forced oral sex.
He was charged under Sections 354,376B, 377C and 509 of the Penal Code and Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Act Against Children.
He faces jail terms of up to 30 years and whipping for the various offences.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Naidatul Athirah Azman requested the court to deny bail, as she said the victim was still staying in the same house as the accused.
The accused was not represented.
Judge Norashima denied bail and set Oct 15 for mention.
