PETALING JAYA: Extraditing Zakir Naik will be like running a red light for the Muslims, says PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

He also said since Zakir was an evangelist, it was the duty of all Muslims to defend their evangelist.

“Only hypocritical Muslims or those with no faith will act as though they cannot differentiate between red and green lights.

“Do not run the red light because the brotherhood of Muslims is above citizenship and crosses boundaries of country and race, ” he said in a Facebook post.

Abdul Hadi added that more than a million PAS members would defend Zakir from hostility.

“More than one million PAS members will not allow for Zakir to be alone, and trust us that Muslims from various parties and groups are together with us, ” he said.

He said as Zakir was an evangelist, only those learned in the religion should be allowed to deal with him.

“If Zakir is mad, bring him to the hospital. If he is not mad, those who speak out against him must be taken into account and not be allowed to continue (to speak).

“Muslims who are not well versed in the religion, should they speak, are like a bottle with little water which makes much noise swishing around.

“A full bottle does not make much noise, ” he said.

PAS central committee member Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz said only enemies of Islam want Zakir to be extradited.

“No Muslim would agree that he be booted out of the country unless he is a hypocrite and a sinner.

“Non-Muslims who work to shoo Zakir out of the country will do so if they are enemies of Islam. Those who support the enemies of Islam are stooges, ” he said.

The Bachok MP also said that it was wrong for Muslims to allow Zakir to be victimised as the preacher was a Muslim and every Muslim was related to each other.
