Only sinners and enemies of Islam want Zakir out, says Nik Abduh

PETALING JAYA: Only enemies of Islam want preacher Zakir Naik to be extradited, says a PAS leader.

"No Muslim would agree that Zakir be booted out of the country unless he is a hypocrite and a sinner.

"Non-Muslims who work to shoo Zakir out of the country will do so if they are enemies of Islam. Those who support the enemies of Islam are stooges, " said Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz in a Facebook post on Thursday (Aug 15).

The Bachok MP added that it is wrong for Muslims to allow Zakir to be victimised as the preacher is a Muslim and every Muslim is related to each other.

Zakir has stirred controversy in Malaysia with his open evangelism criticising non-Muslims.

He is wanted in India over corruption charges, with certain parties saying that the charges are trumped-up.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has since admitted that Malaysia was in a catch-22 situation as Zakir was "an unwelcome guest Malaysia can't send away".
