CEO pleads guilty in negligent death of contractor, pays RM35k fine

IPOH: The chief executive officer of Lysaght Galvanized Steel Bhd, Chua Tia Bon, 69, pleaded guilty on behalf of his company in a Sessions Court here to negligently causing the death of a contractor in April this year.

The company was charged under Section 17 (1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994, which upon conviction provides a fine of not more than RM50, 000, a jail sentence no more than two years or both, under Section 19 of the Act.
