KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman is ruling out sabotage as the likely cause of diesel contamination in Sungai Selangor, says Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador.

The Inspector-General of Police said the investigation, which saw two men detained, pointed more towards negligence that led to the diesel spill.

"Initially, we thought it was an act of sabotage and we arrested two men.

"However, subsequent questioning revealed that the contamination might be due to negligence, so we are ruling out possibility of sabotage at the moment, " he told a press conference after launching the 'Autism: Police Standard Operating Procedures' roadshow on Monday (July 29).

The investigation is ongoing and police expect to discover what actually occurred within a few days, he added.

"This is a very serious case, as it affected between four million to five million users in the Klang Valley, " he said.
