MELAKA: Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has dismissed the suggestion that he supported the appointment of Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak as the Barisan Nasional Advisory Board chairman because they are cousins.
He said the former prime minister got the post because he received the support from leaders in the coalition, including those of the component parties.
The Sembrong MP said this after opening the Kota Melaka Umno women's wing conference here on Saturday (July 20).
“Najib must prove himself.
"I don’t know whether he will succeed as the chairman of the board,” he said, adding that his present concerns were the unity of Umno and the future of the nation.
