ISTANBUL: The Sabah Tourism Board (STB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Turkey's biggest tourism player, Dorak Holding, at the company's headquarters here Thursday (July 11).
Dorak Holding chairman Ahmet Serdar Korukcu signed for the company while STB was represented by chairman Ken Pan Ying On.
Ahmet said the overall goal of the initiative is to position Sabah as one of the top choices for the international leisure segment, comprising group, individual, MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition) and business travellers.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Sabah Deputy Chief Minister cum Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew, Dorak Holding Global Brand & Tourism Management head Esra Degirmenci, as well as STB general manager Noredah Othman.
"I am happy for STB to reach an agreement with Dorak Holding for both parties' mutual interests.
"We are partners now in a win-win tourism environment," Liew said.
Among the main objectives of this partnership are to promote and attract new markets to Sabah.
The MoU will be valid for 12 months as a trial period, after which both parties will agree on continuation in further stages.
Esra and Ahmet will lead a five-member delegation to Sabah in August this year to visit tourism facilities and attractions.
