KOTA KINABALU: A man who went for an interview to be a policeman was nabbed at the Tawau police station, after he tested positive for ganja use.
The 21-year-old suspect was told that he had failed the drug screening and was arrested after the interview on July 4.
Sabah police chief Datuk Omar Mammah said the suspect admitted he had been using drugs regularly for the past year.
"He also revealed that he does ganja about five times a week and gets his supply from a pusher in Kota Kinabalu," he said during a press conference following the arrest.
He said the suspect bought his drugs at RM50 per packet.
Omar said arrests of such nature were not uncommon and had happened several times before.
"Please make sure you are not involved in any form of crime before you come and interview to become a policeman," he advised, adding that police would be able to detect wrongdoing during the interview and screening process.
