Portal to be unblocked once video is removed

The MCMC blocked the Sarawak Report and Medium on grounds of national security.

PETALING JAYA: The portal which was barred by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will be reinstated after it takes down the offending content, says the MCMC chairman.

Al-Ishsal Ishak said the status quo of Sabahkini2.com would be reinstated once the offending content was removed.

“We are a cultured and civilised society, where obscenity is both illegal and uncivilised.

“ISPs will take some hours to reinstate.

“Society is very sensitive now, and we do not want to add fuel to fire,” said Al-Ishsal in a WhatsApp statement to The Star.

He was asked about the move to bar Sabahkini2.com from the evening of June 11.

The portal was the only one that put up the viral sex video featuring a man resembling a minister engaging in sexual activities with another man.
