Man seeking sex in Sibu finds himself face to face with robbers instead

SIBU: The police are on the hunt for three men who allegedly robbed a 52-year-old man of RM800 who had hired a prostitute.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the victim was walking along Jalan Central here at 12.30pm on Sunday (June 9) when a woman waved at him and propositioned him for sex.

"After agreeing, the duo walked up to a rented room. However, three men suddenly showed up," he said.

One of them, armed with a penknife, asked the victim to surrender all his money.

"The victim gave RM50 but this was turned down. They snatched his wallet which contained RM800 and fled," ACP Stanley said.

He added that the woman also fled the scene during the commotion.

ACP Stanley said the man lodged a report at the police post at the UTC (Urban Transformation Centre) here.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.
