Body of crocodile attack victim found in Lahad Datu

KOTA KINABALU: Firemen have recovered a badly-mauled body of a plantation worker who was attacked by a crocodile in a river in the east coast of Lahad Datu.

The body of the victim, 44-year-old Indonesian Rudy Gessa, was found at 12.25pm Monday (June 10) along the river where he was attacked by a crocodile while fishing.

According to a spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Services Department, Rudy's body was found about two kilometres downstream from the river where he was fishing around 4pm on Sunday (June 9).

His body was found trapped in the undergrowth along the riverbank at a plantation at Temenggung area in Lahad Datu.

Firemen, police and villagers were involved in the search and rescue operation.
