Footage of ruckus at Satok Ramadan bazaar goes viral


KUCHING: A ruckus broke out at the Satok Ramadan bazaar here on Hari Raya eve when firecrackers were let off in the crowd.

Footage of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing people running and shouting at the scene.

Kuching police chief Asst Comm Awang Din Awang Gani said a police report had been lodged by a victim who was punched by a group of men.

"It was caused by people letting off firecrackers. The victim had admonished them because the firecrackers nearly hit his child.

"We will follow up with the victim on his injuries as to whether an investigation needs to be carried out," he said on Friday (June 7).

He added that members of the public helped to calm down the situation during the ruckus.
