Woman, trying to get broadband signal, beats up husband who told her to stop


KOTA KINABALU: A man in Lahad Datu district suffered injuries to his face and body after his wife beat him up after he told her to stop walking around inside the house.

When he saw his wife walking here and there trying to get better Internet connection to gamble online at about 10pm on Saturday (June 1), the 38-year-old victim asked her to stop as it was already late.

However, his 40-year-old wife became angry and started quarrelling with him.

Lahad Datu police chief Asst Comm Nasri Mansor said the woman then went outside, grabbed a metal rod and started beating her husband on the face and body.

“The man sustained injuries to his face and chest,” he said in a statement here Monday (June 3).

He said the man lodged a police report at about 11.55am the following day (June 2). 

His wife was picked up by police at about 2am Monday (June 3).

“A metal rod believed used in the incident was also seized,” ACP Nasri said, adding that the woman had tested positive for drugs.

The couple, who are scrap metal collectors and sellers, have six children together.
