Miri's old food bazaar 100% razed

MIRI: The China Street food bazaar in the heart of old Miri city centre was totally razed in a pre-dawn fire on Sunday.

The food bazaar, located in an enclosed lane next to the old Miri theatre, was built in the 1970s to house a dozen or so hawker stalls selling street food.

At about 3am this morning, it was burned down.

Miri Fire and Rescue Department chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said the whole place was razed, 100%.

Nobody was there during the inferno, and the cause of the fire is being probed.
