Vivian Wong it is as DAP's Sandakan polls candidate

SANDAKAN: It comes as no surprise – Vivian Wong Shir Yee will be the DAP candidate for the Sandakan parliamentary by-election.

The candidacy of the youngest daughter of the late Stephen Wong Tien Fatt was announced by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal here on Thursday (April 25).

The announcement was made after a meet-the-people session attended by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng here.

Vivian, 30, has been involved in politics since 2012.

Wong (second from left) has been named as the candidate for the Sandakan by-election. Also seen to her right are DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang (partially hidden), Mohd Shafie and Lim Guan Eng.

The late Stephen held the Sandakan seat for two terms prior to his death on March 28. He also previously held the state Health and People's Well-being minister portfolio.

Parti Bersatu Sabah, the opposition party contesting in the May 11 by-election, has yet to name their candidate.

Nomination day for the Sandakan by-election falls on Saturday (April 27).
