Kelantan revokes Azeez’s title

PETALING JAYA: The Kelantan Palace has revoked the datukship awarded to Baling MP Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.

State Secretary Datuk Nazran Muhammad confirmed that the palace revoked Abdul Azeez’s datukship on April 2.

“We informed the former Tabung Haji chairman (Abdul Aziz) the same day the letter was issued.

“We requested for the award to be immediately returned,” he said.

In the letter dated April 2, Abdul Aziz is barred from using the Datuk title, and the entitlements associated with it.

Azeez was conferred the Jiwa Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Mulia (SJMK) award, which carries the title “Datuk” in 2016.

The state secretariat did not provide reasons behind the revocation of the title .

Azeez, 52, still retains the datukship titles awarded by the Rulers of Kedah and Pahang.
