PETALING JAYA: Bukit Aman has been tasked to investigate and take serious action against the culprits who modified the photo of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on social media.
Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin condemned the posting made by Sabah-Sarawak Merdeka group on Facebook, which also contained a modified picture of Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
"Modifying the photo is an act that has insulted the monarchy and it is clearly against the law.
"It is an extremist act, which does not symbolises Malaysians and infringe on the Federal Constitution," he said in a statement on Friday (April 12).
The government will not compromise against any party which flout the law, with the intention of disrupting public order, Muhyiddin said.
