MIRI: A cargo ship carrying 80,000 litres of contraband diesel was seized during a raid in Miri on Tuesday (April 9).
The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry, which made the seizure, said the diesel was worth RM382,400.
It said that ministry enforcement officers carried out the surprise raid at a jetty within the promises of a shipping company located in the outskirts of the city.
The diesel was deemed as contraband as the ship owner did not have proper permit under the Petroleum Development Act to own the fuel.
The ministry is still investigating what the ship owner intended to do with the cargo of diesel.
