Mat Sabu backtracks: It was the LTAT financial report that contained lies, not the audit report

SEREMBAN: After saying that the audit report for the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) was found to contain lies, Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu (pic) now says that he actually meant the financial report.

Expressing regret over the confusion, Mohamad said that LTAT is currently preparing a new financial report, which is due to be released soon.

LTAT manages the pension fund for the Malaysian Armed Forces.

“Referring to my ceramah in Rantau, Negri Sembilan on Sunday (April 7) night, I want to explain that I actually meant the financial report of the LTAT and not the audit report as reported by the media.

“Any confusion is regretted,” he said in a statement Monday (April 8).

While campaigning for Pakatan Harapan in Mambau on Sunday night for the Rantau by-election, the Parti Amanah Nasional president said the LTAT audit report declared in 2018 was “a lie” and that a re-declaration would soon ensue.

Mohamad had said that the 2018 audit report did not reflect the real financial situation of LTAT.

He was in town on Sunday to stump for Pakatan candidate Dr S. Streram who would be squaring off against Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan as well as independent candidates R. Malarvizhi and Mohd Nor Yassin in the April 13 polls.
