Selangor Umno to hand memorandum to Selangor Sultan over Rome Statute, says King and Conference of Rulers are two different entities

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Umno will be sending a memorandum to the Sultan of Selangor to voice its protest against Malaysia acceding to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), as it affects the sovereignty of the Malay Rulers.

The ICC is the first permanent judicial institution having jurisdiction over genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and the crime of aggression. Selangor Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic) said that Selangor Umno agreed unanimously that the government of the day had violated the Federal Constitution by acceding to the Rome Statute, without the permission of the Conference of Rulers.
