PUTRAJAYA: A political secretary to a minister has been arrested over an allegation that he received an Omega watch worth RM28,000.
According to sources, the 47-year-old officer allegedly received the luxury watch from a developer.
“In return, the developer would be awarded projects under the ministry which his boss is serving,” said the source.
The officer was asked to explain the allegation that he had received the gift from a developer yesterday.
Sources said he was arrested at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters while his statement was being recorded.
MACC deputy chief commissioner Datuk Seri Azam Baki confirmed the arrest.
Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Datuk Salahuddin Ayub also confirmed the arrest of his political secretary.
