Paying respects: Families observing the Qing Ming festival by preparing dishes and burning paper paraphernalia for their dearly departed at the Batu Gantong cemetery in Penang.

GEORGE TOWN: The Lee family joined thousands others from the Chinese community in turning up to pay their yearly respects to their ancestors during the Qing Ming festival.

Plumber Lee Leong Beng, 60, said most of them would turn up to spruce up the final resting place of his grandfather, who died in 1944, at the Batu Gantong cemetery.
