Sandakan MP Stephen Wong dies of heart attack


KOTA KINABALU: Sabah DAP chairman and Sandakan MP Stephen Wong Tien Fatt died of a heart attack on Thursday morning, a party spokesperson has confirmed.

Wong collapsed in his car after he went on a hike at the Tambaig Adventure Park in Kg Duvanson, Putatan, near here on Thursday.

He was rushed to a hospital's emergency unit, however, doctors failed to revive him. He was pronounced dead at 12.15pm.

Wong, 64, who was also the state Health and People's Wellbeing Minister, contested against Lim Ming Hoo from LDP in the 14th general election, garnering 19,094 votes against the latter's 8,996.

He was born in October 1954.
