PASIR GUDANG: The media has been barred from entering the disaster relief management centre at Pasir Gudang Municipal Council (MPPG) Menara Aqabah here.
Three MPPG enforcement personnel went to the media centre located at level three and asked journalists to leave the premises following instruction from MPPG president Zainor Adani here on Tuesday (March 19).
The media has been coming to Menara Aqabah for more than a week as it is where ministers and government officials hold daily press conferences.
The media were told that they would only be allowed to enter the building if a press conference is held.
Meanwhile, Johor Media Club president Mohamad Fauzi Ishak blasted the move and urged the relief management committee to be more welcoming to the media at Menara Aqabah and the Pasir Gudang Indoor Stadium.
More than 4,000 people have been affected and 111 schools closed following the chemical pollution incident at Sungai Kim Kim here on March 7.
Multiple attempts to contact Zainor and MPPG representatives for an explanation went unanswered.
