Wife of Cradle CEO and two teens to be charged with murder

PETALING JAYA: The wife of Cradle Fund CEO Nazrin Hassan and two teenagers are expected to be charged with murder on Monday (March 4).

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said Samirah Muzaffar, 45, and the two teenagers, aged 13 and 16, were detained at their home at about 6.45am on Monday.

"They are expected to be charged at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court at 2pm today," he said.

Nazrin, 45, died in a fire at his double-storey house on June 14, 2018.

Police reclassified the case as murder following a forensic investigation by the Fire and Rescue Department.

On Oct 8, Nazrin's remains were exhumed for a second post-mortem.

Pathologists at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre are in the midst of preparing the full report on the second post-mortem.

Several people have since been remanded and released in the murder investigation, including Nazrin's widow, her ex-husband, a married couple related to his widow and two teenagers.

The identities of the two teenagers cannot be disclosed as they are classified as minors and protected under the Child Act 2001.
