Fraudsters are taking advantage of the widespread use of credit cards.

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Police have arrested three men believed to be involved in installing a hacking device on an automated teller machine (ATM) on Jalan Changkat Bukit Bintang here last Sunday (Feb 17).

Dang Wangi Police chief ACP Shaharuddin Abdullah said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 19) that the suspects, aged 30, 33 and 48, were picked up at a convenience store near the machine.

The hacking device was discovered at 9.30pm on Sunday when five members of the police Motorcycle Patrol Unit from Tun HS Lee police station conducted an inspection and found suspicious objects placed over the ATM's keypad and the card slot.

“One of the objects was a skimmer placed over the card slot, and the other was a video recorder placed over the keypad,” he said, adding that further probe was already underway. – Bernama
