EcoWorld teams up with Taiwanese company to set up first intelligent accommodation

ISKANDAR PUTERI: EcoWorld Development Group Bhd (EcoWorld) will lease 50 houses and retail lots to Taiwan intelligent hotel operator Dun-Qian Hotel Management Co Ltd as part of a collaboration to set up the first intelligent accommodation in the country.

EcoWorld president and CEO Datuk Chang Khim Wah said the pilot project will be run at Eco Nest serviced apartments in Eco Botanic, starting in the third quarter this year.

“Three service robots will be used for the first phase of this pilot project with two check-in kiosks at the check-in counter.

“Dun-Qian Hotel Management is actually the first company to introduce robotic systems that are usually used in factories into serviced accommodation in Taiwan, and this is the first time it will be introduced in Malaysia,” he said.

He was met by reporters after the EcoWorld signing ceremony with Dun-Qian Hotel Management Co Ltd at Eco Nest here on Sunday (Feb 17).

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the state’s Women Development and Tourism Committee chairman Liow Cai Tung.

Chang added that tenants would be able to experience robotic aid in terms of self-service check-in and food ordering system.

“Tenants would be escorted to their rooms by the robots, and the robots would also deliver food that they have ordered directly to their room,” he said, adding that the hassle-free system will also increase safety and remove any human error.

Eco Nest is the Green Mark certified serviced apartment component in the 110ha Eco Botanic township that offers full-fledged condominium facilities that includes an indoor badminton court, gym, swimming pool, gourmet kitchen and sky garden.
